Adur & Worthing Business Partnership (AWBP)

We are The Adur and Worthing Local Business Partnership (AWBP) with the remit of being the voice for Adur and Worthing, representing local business point of view and reflecting the needs for a vibrant local economy. Through our partners and members, we offer business assistance and opportunities for joint working and partnership to ensure that Adur and Worthing is kept at the forefront of economic regeneration and development, working with all Strategic Groups and agencies to secure and promote competitiveness and growth in the local area. The AWBP through its many contacts has the ability to talk directly to the people that make the decisions locally. The Partnership acts as focal point to promote the area as a location to invest in and bring new business opportunities to the Adur and Worthing area. We can link you with up to date information putting you one step ahead and providing you with a single point of access for your needs. We are delighted to support the ‘Small Business’ category once again at these awards and we wish the very best of luck to all entrants and look forward to what will no doubt prove to be another great event.

Established in 2001, the Adur & Worthing Business Partnership (AWBP) is a not-for-profit company, limited by guarantee. The AWBP has identified six core objectives which inform its work programme and the associated initiatives that it supports. These are;

  • To improve innovation in employment, enterprise and further/higher education by securing employer involvement in the development of curricula and increasing the interest in STEM subjects.
  • To improve links between employers and education and training providers; supporting the promotion of apprenticeships and work placement opportunities; and improving educators’ understanding of the local economy.
  • To increase numbers likely to start and sustain new business by providing aspiration and a supportive business environment; including access to premises, knowledge and skills.
  • To develop and sustain a business environment that supports business and employment growth, and meets the needs of priority sectors.
  • Support the promotion of Adur & Worthing as a destination for economic investment, through the development and marketing of investment opportunities.
  • Facilitate effective communication with, and between, businesses; including through the provision of events that support local procurement and inter business trade.
Andrew Swayne, Chair of the AWBP addresses members at the Greater Brighton Economic Board, including AWBP members.

The work programme is reviewed at each meeting which is  held quarterly at business venues across the area. The minutes of the last four meetings are available to download from the official website (www.awbp.co.uk)

We welcome project proposals for inclusion in the work programme and/or requesting a funding contribution from the AWBP (which must contribute to the six core objectives of the Partnership).

The management and administration of the Partnership is overseen by a Board of Directors, comprising representatives from the business community and Adur & Worthing Councils. The Board is chaired by a business representative, with the Councils acting as secretariat and providing a £10,000 per annum financial contribution to the Partnership budget.
